Composition
Each capsule contains Orlistat 120 mg.
Product Description
Orlistat is a pharmaceutical agent used for weight management.
Its mechanism of action is based on inhibiting gastrointestinal lipases, thereby preventing the breakdown and absorption of dietary fats.
Indications for Use
Treatment of obesity in combination with a reduced‑calorie diet. Indicated for patients with a body mass index (BMI) ≥30 kg/m², or ≥27 kg/m² in the presence of risk factors such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or dyslipidemia.
Method of Administration and Dosage
The usual dose is one capsule (120 mg) three times daily with each main meal containing fat.
If a meal is skipped or contains no fat, the dose may be omitted.
Contraindications
Chronic malabsorption syndrome, cholestasis, hypersensitivity to Orlistat or excipients.
Precautions
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Patients should follow a moderately reduced‑calorie diet with approximately 30% of calories from fat to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
Adverse Reactions (Side Effects)
Common effects include oily rectal discharge, increased stool frequency, flatulence with discharge, and abdominal pain.
Possible reduction in absorption of fat‑soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K).
Pregnancy and Lactation
Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Storage Conditions
Store at room temperature in a dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children.
